NEW! Religious Education for K-8
SCUBA Summer Religious Education Camp
Dear Parents, Guardians and Young People of our Parish,
We are extremely excited about the opportunity to take a bold and innovative step in Parish Religious Education K-8. The first transition is there will be no Sunday School this coming Fall to Spring. All those who are ordinarily students of Sunday School will now attend Summer Religious Education Camp.
In this first year of transition, if your family cannot attend the camp due to vacation plans, you will be assigned a homeschool curriculum. This is a separate registration process, so please do not register on the SCUBA Cognito Form for July 15- July 19. Homeschool will require parents to assume the role of catechists and to attend meetings throughout the year between parents/catechetical leaders/children.
Our theme this year for the Summer Religious Education Camp is SCUBA and includes daily Mass, songs, games, art, and Adoration. This is where VBS meets the Religious Education Curriculum. Open to incoming Kindergarten (8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.) and First through Eighth Grade (8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.), our days begin with prayer, song, and dance…then to Holy Mass. What a wonderful way to begin each day.
Early in the day, all classes will move into grade level activities and curriculum. Kindergarten will be dismissed at 11:30 and Grades 1 – 8 will have a lunch break and then move into their afternoon sessions. For more information, parents and guardians please see the Handbook attached below.
In a 35 hour week of fun and learning, we will accomplish much. We ask for your prayer and support. Your interest in their faith and moral development will teach the children that these things matter and will make their time in religious education summer camp all the more worthwhile.
Please see the Handbooks and Form A: Consent and Release Form below.
We pray for many blessings as you continue to raise your children in the Catholic faith. We are humbled to walk with you on this journey.
Joyfully in Christ,
Linda Steinmiller
Religious Education Director
