About Sunday School
About the Sunday School
“Education in the faith by the parents should begin in the child’s earliest years. This already happens when family member helps one another grow in faith by the witness of a Christian life in keeping with the Gospel. Family catechesis precedes, accompanies, and enriches other forms of instruction in the faith. Parents have the mission of teaching their children to pray and to discover their vocation as children of God. The parish is the Eucharistic community and the heart of the liturgical life of Christian families; it is a privileged place for the catechesis of children and parents” (Catechism, 2226).
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Children,
WELCOME to Saints Peter and Paul Church and our Parish Christian Faith Formation Program for parishioners with children in Kindergarten through Grade 8. We are delighted to partner with you the parents and guardians of these beautiful children. Whether you are new to our Church or have been with us for years, we hope you will feel at home with us as we worship, pray, learn, serve, and grow in faith together.
OUR STAFF AND YOU
We are a small and dedicated staff of volunteers. As part of our Sunday School covenant with you, we will call upon parents to assist in the classrooms or as arrival and dismissal helpers. We are especially happy to invite your participation in at least 4 larger-scale events including; Harvest Fest, Advent Wreath Making, Breakfast with Saint Nicholas and Mother’s Day Tea. All of these will be Sunday School events and our Middle School Youth will play a key role in these opportunities for growing in knowledge and awareness of how our Catholic traditions reflect in our lives.
Parent involvement is also essential in helping your children with both their studies and their overall faith foundation. Please pray with your children daily, attend Sunday or Saturday Mass weekly and find ways to serve others. Children, beginning in First Grade, are required to have memorized; The Lord’s Prayer, The Hail Mary, and the Glory Be, as well as knowing how to pray and make the Sign of the Cross.

FOLLOWING JESUS IS THE WORK OF A LIFETIME
Guiding your family in following Jesus is both a serious duty and a challenge. Let’s not forget, however, it is our heritage and should be celebrated and charged with intense joy! We must support and promote the formation of our children through relationships with adults, like yourself, who live and model the Christian faith.
Joyfully in Christ,
Linda Steinmiller
